Things Fall Apart

Do you ever feel like maybe if you left your family things might come to pass that would ruin them?
Maybe you should stay behind and do all you can to help your family.
The sinking feeling you have when you think your parents marriage is sinking into a bottomless pit of debt, and it might not make it. If you leave, they will give up the charade.
The endless guilt that your  brother will never be able to get a job, because although he is not lazy and very bright, he is not neuro-typical and no one outside your family will ever understand him.
Your other brother will leave and never come back, following in your footsteps and leave behind everything.
A family member is losing perspective, descending into alcoholism.
Although you can't reasonably expect to fix all this, how can you ignore that you may have a role in stopping such events form coming to pass?
You feel guilty pursuing what your heart tells you about you, because, well, your heart is a little conflicted at the moment.
Love you, do for you, or love your family and stay here.
Maybe it isn't so dramatic as all that, but leaving means losing a grip on all these events and hearing about them in some sad newspaper tale.
How did you let it happen?
