Jump In

It's like standing in that lake.
I want to jump in, but it's so cold, and doing it shocks your entire system. All you can think is everything you feel. So I'm taking my pain in slow doses. Wading in as the cold knocks at my ankles, stinging.
I should erase you from my life, like you've erased me. Like you will erase me. You'll throw away my toothbrush, and just like that, you'll have cut me loose. So easy, so simple. You won't feel it in small increments, in large painful increments, like I will.
I should dive in, take all the pain at once, let it knock the air out of my lungs. But I'm scared. Scared you'll change your mind, hoping you will.
I shouldn't let you keep doing this to me, yo-yo me around. I want to say I won't. But I'm not ready yet. So please don't me mean.

"Drink up baby doll
Are you in or are you out?
Leave your things behind
'Cause it's all going off without you
Excuse me too busy you're writing your tragedy
These mishaps
You bubble-wrap
When you've no idea what you're like

So, let go, let go
Jump in
Oh well, what you waiting for?
It's all right
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown
So, let go, let go
Just get in
Oh, it's so amazing here
It's all right
'cause there's beauty in the breakdown."
